About

An independent drinks platform for people who actually care what is in the glass

The person behind Barrel Broz

Sameer Sakhawat

I’ve always enjoyed exploring — a new bottle, a new bar, a new place or simply a new drinking experience.

That curiosity was there long before Barrel Broz. Over the years, it led to a collection of nearly 150 bottles from around the world, many picked up while travelling. My background in photography has also come in handy with Barrel Broz, especially on the visual side of things.

Barrel Broz is really an extension of that curiosity — trying things for myself, finding what I genuinely enjoy, and sharing those experiences with others.

Where it all started

It started with curiosity.

Long before Barrel Broz, I was curious about what was actually in the glass. Trying a single malt alongside a blended Scotch was one of those early moments that made me realise just how different two bottles could be — and made me want to explore more.

In January 2026, that curiosity became Barrel Broz: a faceless Instagram page created simply to share the drinks, bars and experiences I was discovering.

There was no big plan behind it. I just wanted to share things I genuinely enjoyed — and, of course, tell people when I didn’t.

As the page grew, I wanted to go beyond short-form content and create a place where we could go deeper into drinks, bars, people and the wider alcobev world.

About Barrel Broz

So, what is Barrel Broz?

Barrel Broz is a place to explore drinks, bars, cocktails, drinking culture and the world around them.

It started with a simple idea — try things for yourself, find what you like, and share the experience.

Here, you’ll find spirit reviews, stories about bars and bartenders, cocktails, what’s happening across the alcobev industry, and guides to help you discover something new.

Whether you’re here to find your next bottle, discover a bar or simply see what’s happening in the drinks world, there’s something here for you.

Because drinks are meant to be explored, talked about and most importantly ENJOYED!!

What we believe

Price is context, not verdict

A higher price doesn’t automatically make something better. What matters is what you get for what you pay — whether it’s a bottle, a cocktail or a night at a bar.

No press-release journalism

We’re here to experience things, not repeat what we’re told about them. If something impresses us, we’ll tell you. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you that too. No sugar-coating, no playing along.

Opinions, signed

Taste is subjective. What we love might not be your thing, and that’s perfectly fine. We don’t pretend otherwise. What matters is that our opinion comes from actually trying it, experiencing it and telling you what we genuinely thought.

How we review

Open the bottle. Pour a dram. See what we think.

Our approach is pretty simple. We try it the way you would — as a customer, not as a brand.

•

We look at what’s in the bottle, how it tastes and what it offers.

•

We consider whether it makes sense for the price.

•

We’re not here to tell you what you should like. We’re here to tell you what we actually experienced.

•

No complicated scoring for the sake of it. No dressing things up. Just an honest take on what’s in the glass.
